October 10, 2006 Representative Fisher Appointed to House Committee to Lower High School Dropout Rate Yesterday, Representative Susan Fisher (D-Buncombe) was appointed to serve on a new legislative committee, the House Select Committee on High School Graduation and Drop Out Rates, to study North Carolina's drop out problem and recommend ways to keep students in school. “I am excited about the opportunity to serve on this committee to look at the root causes of our high school dropout rates, and to propose solutions to help more young people finish high school.” Fisher stated. “Helping more North Carolina students complete high school will improve our economy, raise the standard of living for working families, and help improve wages and quality of life in our state.” Download this Media Advisory as a MS Word document.
