A Message from Susan
Hi, I’m Susan Fisher and I’m running for re-election
to the 114th district in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
I chaired the Asheville City Board of Education for four years,
and in 2004 I was appointed to complete the house term of
representative Martin Nesbitt. As a fifth generation Buncombe
County native, I value our quality of life here in the mountains.
I’m working hard in the general assembly to make sure that
Western North Carolina gets our fair share when it comes to jobs,
education, health care and the environment.
We must make health care more affordable and accessible to all
our citizens. I know business owners in the community –
and in my own family – who are struggling with soaring health
insurance costs. I support tax credits for small businesses that
provide health insurance for their employees.
We live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and we
need to work together to make sure it remains beautiful for generations
to come. I worked to protect the Woodfin watershed and will continue
to support clean air legislation.
As a parent of two children, I understand that schools need sufficient
resources to provide quality education for all students. I voted
for a pay raise to teachers and all state employees.
I am determined to improve our economy and bring jobs home. I
voted for economic incentives for local companies to expand and
out-of-state companies to move here. I supported vital, dedicated
funding for our community colleges for job retraining.
My parents and children are part of the heritage and the future
of this community, and their interests are no different than yours:
our economy, our schools, affordable health care, and a healthy,
clean environment. I’m asking for your support and your
vote on November 2nd so that together we can ensure a bright future
for all of us.
I hope you will keep me posted about issues of importance to you.
I look forward to working for you in the general assembly.
